Big Boy Bed

We have finally made the transition to the big boy bed!! I was going to do it the Sunday of Spring Break, but he had the stomach bug and I wanted to keep him contained. So this Sunday night we made the transition! It went well he stayed in his bed and seems to like the bed. About 12:00 am early Monday morning in the monitor I heard a thump followed by crying and went to check on him, he had fallen out of the bed and was laying on the floor. Poor guy, I picked him up and checked him over and put him back in bed and he was out before I stood up. The next morning I asked him about falling out of the bed and I don't think he remembered any of it. So last night was night 2 and at 11:55ish I heard Luke crying in the bedroom, I had just put some laundry in the dryer, so I went to check on him. He was sitting on the floor beside his bed with the blanket beside him. I think he was trying to figure out what happened. But I put him back in bed and he fell fast asleep. This morning when he woke up I went to get him and he was still in his bed! I am not sure he realizes so early that he can get out by himself. I'm sure it won't be long before he is up out of bed before I get there. So that is the tale of the big boy bed!

MS Walk for Gramma, March 28th 2009

I have decided at the last minute to join the 2009 MS Walk. I joined the team, Sherman's Marchers (SM) which is MS reversed. Next year I will be a little more on top of things. To the right is a link to make a donation (tax deductible). I have set a goal of $225 and have raised $125 so far which is 55% of my goal. Thank you to everyone who has and will donate. As some of you may know my mom aka Gramma has MS she was diagnosed in August of 1988 and remained in remission for about 15 years. She is very strong willed and determined to not let MS control her. So Luke and I will be marching for her!! As long at the weather is not to bad on March 28th, Luke will be walking with me, or strolling in the stroller. Here is a link to the National MS Society Lone Star Chapter if you would like to read more.

Every hour of every day,
someone is diagnosed with MS. That's why I registered for the MS Walk and that's why I'm asking you to support my fund raising efforts with a tax-deductible donation.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is dedicated to ending the devastating effects of MS but they can't do it without our help. It's faster and easier than ever to support this cause that's so important to me. Simply click on the link at the bottom of this message. If you prefer, you can send your contribution to the address listed below.

Any amount, great or small, helps to make a difference in the lives of people with MS. I appreciate your support and look forward to letting you know how I do.

P.S. If you would like more information about the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, how proceeds from the MS Walk are used, or the other ways you can get involved in the fight against MS, please visit nationalmssociety.org.

Another Crisis not Averted

Well we were unlucky again. Monday a girl at Luke's daycare didn't come Monday because she came down with a stomach bug early that morning. By the end of the week I thought we were in the clear since Luke had no signs of being sick. Until Saturday night; after his afternoon nap Luke was acting normal until about a hour after he had been awake, he started wanting to cuddle and just be close. But he had no fever and no other signs or symptoms of being sick. So my mom and i went to dinner with Luke and all was normal. By the time we got home he was just sitting in his car seat looking at me like he was tired, so I got him ready for bed and he went to sleep. Then about 10:30pm he woke up crying so I went in and checked on him and he was a mess. FYI, mandarin oranges look the same as before you eat them. So I gave him a bath, clean the crib and carpet, then about 30 minutes later, he was back in bed. The pattern continued until 1am, but each time it was not as bad as the time before. I summed it up to a friend like this: 6 rounds of vomiting, 5 clothing changes, 4 diaper changes, 3 sheet changes, 2 restarts of the CD, 1 bath and 1 sick little boy. All in just a few hours. I think we are in the up swing. Keep your fingers crossed! The fun part will be to see who gets it next; me or my mom. Luckily Scott was out of town so I think he will be safe.

Crisis not averted

I was trying to avoid Luke climbing or falling out of the bed by switching him to the toddler bed over Spring Break. But I learned last night I was about 3 days too late. I'm still not sure exactly how he did it, but I was in the kitchen trying to get him something to make his teeth feel better, I think his next molars are trying to push through, and my mom and I hear a loud thump followed by crying. I hurried in to find him laying on his back on the floor next to the crib. Once he settled down and stopped crying, all he would say was "I fall" and point at the crib. I think his neck might be a little sore today, but no bruises thankfully. I will change his crib into his toddler bed on Sunday and get some pictures posted of it. I just hope to get some sleep next week during the change. Have a great weekend!

The best smile ever!!!

This is the best smile I have gotten out of Luke so far, and it is the best smile in the whole world! The added bonus is it was taken on my birthday. Thank you Luke!

I only have one question: Where did my baby go? Wasn't it just yesterday I was trying to figure out what to do with him? Having friends teach me how to bathe such a tiny little boy? It makes me sad to think how much time has flown by. But there is so much more to look forward to!
